Q: Where can I get complete Race Weekend Information?
A: Navigate the ATM Website or download and print the 2008 Official Race Program. Program will be online by September 5, 2008. Download times vary. Hard copies will be included in all runner packets.
Q: Do you allow hand crank wheelchairs in the race? A: Hand crank wheelchairs are allowed on the course, however, they are not eligible for wheelchair athlete awards.
Q: Are baby strollers allowed on the course? A: No strollers, baby-joggers, skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, or animals allowed on the course. Only runners and officials are allowed on the course.
Q: Can I run with someone else’s bib number? A: No. Any unregistered runner that competes with a registered runner’s bib number will be disqualified. If the bib number is associated with a team then that team will be disqualified from competition. ATM officials are talking a firm position on handing-off bib numbers because of liability issues and the adverse impacts on scoring, results, and awards.
Q: Can I run with no bib number? A: Sorry, You must have a bib number and timing chip to access the Start Line and run the course.
Q: What is Garment Check? A: The Garment Check is a service reserved for registered runners. The purpose is to store your outer garments while you are running. Plan extra time due to lines. The Start Area is a 15 minute walk away.
Q: What is the Timing Chip? A: The timing chip tracks your mileage, time and scores you within your appropriate age division and team, if you are on a team. You must wear the chip on your shoe and cross all timing mats or you will be disqualified. These chips are rented and there is a $20 fee for all non-returned chips. Q: Do you accept walkers? A: All participants must maintain a 15-minute mile pace or better. Roads are opened on a rolling schedule. Runners must be at the 5 mile mark by 9:35am. Runners arriving at the 5 mile mark after 9:35am will not be allowed to complete the entire course. Officials will direct them to turn at the 14th Street and proceed directly to the 8 mile mark and then on to the Finish Line. If you are directed to proceed directly to the Finish Line at the 5 mile mark you will not receive an official 10-mile race time or result.
Q: What are the location, dates, and times for Packet Pick-Up? A: Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA on Friday, October 3, 10AM to 7PM and Saturday, Oct 4, 8:30AM to 4PM.
Q: What if I can’t pick-up my packet during the published hours? A: Consider changing your schedule -or- another person can obtain your packet with a copy of your photo ID. There is no packet pick-up on race day.

A: No, the dinner is open to both military and civilian runners. Pick up pre-purchased tickets with Photo ID at the HQ Hotel.
Q: Where should I stay while in Washington for the race? A: Crystal Gateway Marriott is the HQ hotel and the hub of activities. It offers special room rates, is on the Metro blue/yellow line, is within walking distance to the Start/Finish and is convenient to Washington, DC. Q: Can I use my personal ChampionChip timing chip? A: Yes, bring it to packet pick-up and have it scanned at chip distribution. There is no discount for using your own chip.
Q: What do I do if I purchased a GEICO Pasta Dinner ticket but cannot attend? A: You may sell your pasta dinner ticket. Please note, terms of payment are between buyer and seller. Pick up the pasta dinner tickets with a copy of the photo id of the original ticket buyer.
Q: When does race entry open?
A: Online registration opens April 1, 2008. The Race will close when it fills its 26,000 runner field.
Q: What much does registration cost?
A: Online individual registration is $47 until June 30th. After June 30th individual online registration will increase to $55. Mail-in individual registration using the off-line form is $55.
Q: How is runner seeding determined?
A: The online registration system asks for your best 10K or longer distance race time in the past two years. If you have not run a race in the past two years then you will be asked for your estimated Ten-Miler finish time. Any runner who does not complete the entire course will be disqualified.
Q: How do I register for the Youth Runs?
A: Use the online ATM Registration function. Pick up Youth Run packets at the HQ Hotel during Race Expo hours on Race Weekend.
Q: If I am unable to run the race can I receive a refund? A: Sorry, entry fees are non-refundable, but you can transfer your entry to another person via the online Registration Transfer process.
Q: How do I transfer my entry? A: ATM entry transfer will be available 15-MAY-08. Deadline to transfer is 08-AUG-08 and a small fee applies.
Q: How do I create a team?
A: Follow instructions on the Team Registration page. If not, call the ATM office with questions. Team creation fee is $35 until June 30th. After June 30th the fee increases to $40.
Q: How can I execute team changes? A: Only the Team Captain can execute team changes. Team Captains should select Registration-Teams from link, and then select Team Tools. To use Team Tools, Team Captains must login in with your login name and password. Click on links to add, drop, or search for team members.
Q: How do I join a team? A:If you have already registered for the race, ask your team captain to add you to the team using the Team Tools function. If you have not registered use the "Join a Team" Button and type the Team Name in the search box. The Registration Form will appear with your team name at the top.
Q: How are teams scored? A: Teams are scored based on the chip time of the top four finishers.
Q: Can I pick-up packets for my entire team? A: Team pick-up no longer exists! Runners must pick-up their own packet. Pick-up other team member packet with copy of his/her photo id. No exceptions!
Q: How many people can I have on my team? A: Maximum of 8 runners per team. Must have 4 members to qualify as a team and score.
Q: How can Soldier Teams reserve slots for deployed soldiers?
A: When the Team Captain creates a team he or she can pre-pay for up to 8 ATM entries. Deadline to use or register these entries is 08-AUG-08.
