1st Annual Army Ten-Miler (Oct. 13, 1985)
The inaugural Army Ten-Miler featured 1,600 registered runners with local running stars winning all the titles. Kevin McGarry, a former miler at the University of Maryland, captured the men's title and Marianne Dickerson, second place finisher at the 1983 women's marathon world championships, won the women's title. 78 year-old Ed Benham, posted a national age group record by running 1:12:11. Masters titles went to Don Davis from Reston, Va. and Cindy Dalrymple of Arlington, Va.

2nd Annual Army Ten-Miler (Oct. 12, 1986)
Race registration increased to over 2,000. Steve O'Connell from Dover, New Hampshire won the men's title narrowly missing setting a new race record and Marianne Dickerson successful defended her women's title with a new record of 57:33. Information on masters winners is not available.

3rd Annual Army Ten-Miler (Oct. 11, 1987)
The tradition of the Commander's Cup is established awarding top honors and bragging rights to the best U.S. military team. 21 year-old Darrell General of Temple Hills, Md., wins his first of three titles in 49:44 and sets a new race record. Dickerson doesn't return to run and Pam Briscoe of Chevy Chase, Md., takes the female title in 59:10. Top honors in the masters competition went to local runners and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington captured the first Commander's Cup.

4th Annual Army Ten-Miler (Oct. 16, 1988)
The 4th annual race was conducted under unseasonably warm 60-degree temperature. The U.S. Army, MDW successfully retains the Commander''''s Cup and their bragging rights. Darrell General fights off the competition and defends his men's title. Two-time winner Marianne Dickerson returns to win a record third title. Raymond Velez defends his masters title and Joyce Rankin is the new women's masters champion. The Army Ten-Miler becomes America's second largest 10-mile race.

5th Annual Army Ten-Miler (Oct. 15, 1989)
The fifth year started under foggy and humid conditions with the temperature near 6o degrees. Near the Lincoln Memorial, two miles into the race, Michael Regan of Washington made a surprise move and broke away from the pack. Regan never looked back and tied the previous year's time set by General in 50:11. The former University of Virginia runner, Laura DeWald of Silver Spring, Md., easily won for the women in 58:20. Again, ranked as America's largest 10-mile race

6th Annual Army Ten-Miler (Oct. 14, 1990)
The Army National Guard captured the Commander's Cup and two local stars went head to head. Two-time ATM winner, Darrell General and two-time MCM winner Jim Hage of Lanham, Md., battled each other and 70-degree temperatures in this race. Hage held on to claim victory and a new race record of 49:31. Russians Olga Markova and Albina Galiamova also ran head to head throughout the race and crossed the finish holding hands. The victory was given to Markova. Joyce Rankin returned to take back her masters title and Roger Clark, a member of the Royal Air Force Racing Team, claimed the men's master title.
