In 2009, the 25th Anniversary of the Army Ten-Miler, two longstanding event records were smashed.
Alene Reta, 27 of New York, NY broke the overall male record with a time of 46:59. The previous male record set in 2004 was held by MAJ Dan Browne with a time of 47:32. In the female competition, Samia Akbar, 27 of Herndon, VA broke the overall female record with a time of 55:25. The previous female record was set by Susan Mallory in 1995 with a time 56:20.
