Army Ten-Miler - Food Distribution Coordinator
Position Overview
23,000 runners and 1,200 of volunteers and soldiers. All need to be fed. As Food Distribution Coordinator, you work with the ATM office, the ATM contractor, and food distribution volunteers to provide food to Army Ten-Miler participants.
As Food Distribution Coordinator, you are responsible for supporting the Army Ten-miler on Saturday and Sunday. You need to ensure on Saturday that everything is set up (contractors deliver food to the Pentagon between 8 and 9 AM, and ATM contractor will provide the labor to unload the trucks and place the food items within the tents).
On Sunday you are responsible for balancing your
food distribution volunteers
to effectively distribute food. Volunteers and soldiers will take food items as they deploy to their duty areas. And following the race, runners will form a single line on the outer section of the tables and "walk the line" - picking one of each food item. Your volunteer team will monitor food use and replenish food items as required. No runners are permitted to take food in bulk.
Time/Location Information:
As the Food Distribution Coordinator, you need to report to the Volunteer Check-in Tent in the South Pentagon Parking Lot Lane 21 at 6:00 AM and report to the Food Tents (Lane 33) to meet the volunteers.

Serve as point of contact
You will oversee all food operations and personnel in the Food Tent. You will work with the ATM office and ATM contractors to ensure everything is running smoothly. You will use a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) to support coordination.
Check day before race to ensure everything is set up
The ATM office will arrange for food delivery on Saturday October 3rd. The food tents, (located in Pentagon parking lanes 31 & 32) will include muffins, bagels, cookies, kashi bars, bananas, and bottles of water. Ensure on Saturday that everything is set up and 100 or more trash boxes are set around the food area.
Provide race-day volunteers with instructions regarding task
Volunteers will arrive at 6 AM. You will instruct volunteers about the day ahead.
- Food items are for Soldiers, Volunteers, 10-Mile runners (must have number), Youth Run participants (must have numbers and parents of Kids Run participants are allowed to take food).
- Soldiers may pick up food on Saturday or Sunday morning.
- Allow people to take only what they can eat. People can come back as often as they want however; no individual or group is allowed to walk away from the Food Tent with a box(es) of food.
- Break down empty boxes and stack in a pile.
- Work with contractor to clean up food tent and the surrounding area. (The ATM contractor will dispose of all refuse, break down and stack all tables).
- Work with ATM office to donate all left-over food.
Balance resources
You will work with approximately 30-40 food distribution volunteers.
