Army Ten-Miler - Hooah Tent Coordinator
Overview
The Hooah Tent Zone (HTZ) is a physical location where military units promote their Divisions through displays within the tents. It's a place, which creates a feeling, which embodies the "Hooah Spirit." The "Hooah Spirit" is driven by pride and passion and displayed through leadership, sustained performance and commitment.
The Hooah Tent Zone celebrates this spirit. It also provides the following:
- Camaraderie with family, friends and teammates.
- Rest & Recuperation (R&R) after the challenge of the 10-miler.
- Showcase for espirit-de-corps and Division / Organization pride.
- Crossroads for civilians and soldiers
- Educational journey into the life and experiences of the soldier Award for the best display of Hooah Spirit
On Friday night, (October 2, 2009) the Pentagon South Parking Lot will cleared of all parked vehicles by Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA). ATM contractor will erect the Hooah tents. On Saturday, the ATM contractor will have the power supply hooked up the Hooah Tents. The tables and chairs will be set up according to each tent specification. On race day, the ATM contractor will have personnel to remove trash for each of the Hooah tents on a rolling schedule. At the conclusion of the awards ceremony on race day the ATM contractor will breakdown all Hooah Tents.
Location and Schedule
The Hooah Tent Zone (HTZ) will be located in the Pentagon South Parking Lot. During set up of the HTZ on Friday, the HTZ exhibitors and sponsors occupy their assigned areas but as coordinator, you don't need to be involved until Saturday (and Sunday).
Task Overview
As Coordinator, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring proper set up of tents
- Giving instructions to Hooah Tent Volunteers
- Monitoring trash needs; removal
- Coordinating with ATM staff
Task Detail
Ensure proper set up of tents
On Saturday, you must check to see that tents are set up according to specifications and ensure tents are placed according to the layout design.
- The tent numbers 26-50 will have access starting at 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
- The tent numbers 1-25 will have access 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- A pass for entry is not required prior to 7:00 PM
- General access will be until 7:00 PM; no power (lights) will be available
until after then
- There will be an overnight security patrol of the staging area
Occupants may use an electric warmer, as each tent will have power. Each tent occupant is responsible for providing their own personnel to assist with their moving in and moving out.
You must ensure each tent occupant complies with the Pentagon reservation policies of no alcohol, open flames (sterno, grills, etc) or propane tanks. Make sure safety and security guidelines are followed and that generators are fully operational and grounded. There will be an ATM contractor on site to resolve any electrical concerns.
Give instructions regarding task
Volunteers assist with distributing fire extinguishers and distributing race literature (as appropriate). Provide direction to volunteers on how to watch for trash-build up
Monitor if trash needs to be removed (by contractor)
The contractor, Special Events Rentals, is responsible for trash removal. On race day, this contractor will have personnel to remove trash from each of the Hooah tents on a rolling schedule. At the conclusion of the awards ceremony (12 noon) on race day the ATM contractor will breakdown all Hooah Tents (1:00 pm). Work with volunteers and contractors to ensure that trash is removed.
Coordinate with others
Use a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) to coordinate with others. Work with the contractor (Special Event Rentals) and others.
